Alton L. Biggs Excellence in Biology Teaching Award

Each year, the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT), through its Outstanding Biology Teacher Award (OBTA), attempts to identify an excellent biology instructor in each state. Nominations of candidates by NABT members and friends help us to recognize those individuals whose outstanding work in the classroom qualifies them for this award.

The OBTA program is sponsored by Carolina Biological Supply Company, and recipients are special guests of at the Honors Luncheon held at the NABT Professional Development Conference. Recipients also receive gift certificates from Carolina Biological Supply Company, resources from other sponsors, award certificates and complimentary one-year membership from NABT.

Additionally, TABT offers the Alton L. Biggs Excellence in Biology Teaching Award. This award uses the same forms as the Texas OBTA and the same Awards Committee determines the recipient or recipients. This award is sponsored by the TABT and recipients are special guests of the TABT Luncheon held at CAST. Recipients also receive a monetary award from TABT, complimentary one-year membership in TABT and award certificates.
